Welcome

This is the start of what I hope will be an informative and progressive democratic blog.

Thank you for inviting me to join your blog. The following is an exchange between me and the "moderator" of the Democratic-Hernando Yahoo Group, a fan of George W. Bush and his wars posing as a Democrat named Gene Ehrich. In response, Ehrich terminated my membership, which I initiated at the request of several group members. It is submitted for your amusement.

Oh? I was invited to join this list. If you wish to kick me off then pray do so. No skin off my nose. If you like what I usually write you will either tolerate those things I choose to write that might occasionally displease you or, if what I write stops appearing in the digests, I will then submit nothing more to this group.

I am not prepared to write others' opinions over my own name. I will leave that to those whose opinions they are.

I write my own honest opinions and back them up with facts and observations. I don't water it down for fear that someone might be offended by my low opinion of their submissions. And my opinion of yours, Ehrich, is very low indeed.

The kind of ignorant claptrap you employed in arguing with my post needs to be bluntly referred as what it is -- ignorant claptrap and nothing more than trite and talking-point bumperstickerisms. One of my problems with Democrats at all levels of discourse is that they so often shrink from speaking plainly when plain speaking is most sorely needed. Any defense by self-described Democrats of these Bush wars calls for the STRONGEST opprobrium phrased as bluntly and directly as vocabulary will permit.

Ad hominem references are a time-honored part of politics and have been since the dim dawn of democracy in ancient Greece. Indeed, politics in the beginning was exclusively ad hominem, as democracy had its origin with the act of ostracism.

Again, however, you display your ignorance of history, a particularly harmful type of ignorance in politics that needs to be strongly combatted, even with insults when appropriate. The credibility of anyone defending Bush policies must be strongly and frontally attacked at every opportunity, in public and in private, vocally and in writing.

I stand by every word of my previous post. They were chosen deliberately and and I will provide a few more in a similar vein if you like. I genuinely dislike people who defend unjust war and I hold them and their views in utter contempt. I am quite willing to make the effort to persuade others to dislike and disrespect them as much as I do, and I shall do so without hypocritically attempting to conceal my feelings about the matter.
